Introduction

Metrable is committed to protecting the privacy of our users. This Privacy Statement describes how we collect, use, and safeguard personal and instructional data submitted to our platform. This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and subject to our Terms of Service, which govern your use of the platform, including how we communicate material changes to these policies.

Children's Privacy (COPPA): We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.

FERPA Compliance: If you are using Metrable on behalf of an educational agency or institution, you agree to designate Metrable as a "School Official" with a legitimate educational interest in any education records shared, pursuant to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The educational institution maintains direct control over the use and maintenance of these education records.

  • Account Information: Name, email, role (e.g., teacher, admin), school/district affiliation, and other registration details.
  • Third-Party Services and Single Sign-On (SSO): If you create an account using a third-party service such as ClassLink, Google or Microsoft, we may collect your name, email address, and any information you permit us to collect as determined by your privacy settings with that service.
  • Uploaded Content: Lesson plans, pacing guides, files, and other instructional materials you choose to upload ("User Content").
  • Usage Data: Logins, page visits, feature interactions, time spent on dashboards, and technical logs.

Note on Student Data: We do not require student PII for the Service. We minimize the collection of sensitive personal data. If incidental student information is included in your uploads, it is processed solely for the purpose of providing the Service and subject to our security protocols.

2. How We Use Information

  • Analyze instructional materials for internal model improvement (see "Artificial Intelligence" below).
  • Monitor the Metrable platform for performance and security concerns.

3. Data Security

Metrable employs industry-standard security protocols, including encryption at rest and in transit, role-based access controls, and regular audits.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal information and User Content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. While we will automatically schedule inactive accounts and their associated User Content for deletion after twenty-four (24) months of continuous inactivity, Metrable is not a data backup service. We reserve the right to delete inactive accounts or User Content at an earlier time at our sole discretion. You may request immediate deletion of your account and data at any time.

5. Service Providers and Subprocessors

We use trusted third-party service providers to help us operate the Service (e.g., cloud hosting providers, payment processors, and AI infrastructure). These providers have limited access to your information strictly to perform tasks on our behalf and are obligated by contract to safeguard your data and not use it for their own independent purposes.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your uploaded content and account data.
  • Request data deletion or export.

7. State Privacy Rights (e.g., Texas, California)

Depending on your U.S. state of residence, you may have specific rights regarding your personal information under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) or the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA).

Metrable does not sell your personal data. Metrable does not share your personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Metrable uses advanced AI technologies to provide core platform functionality. We are transparent about how your data interacts with these systems.

Analytical vs. Generative Use

We distinguish between Analytical AI (understanding your content) and Generative AI (creating new content).

  • Analytical Use (Allowed): We use uploaded instructional materials to train our models to better understand educational standards (e.g., TEKS), pacing, and curriculum alignment. This is essential for providing you with accurate reports.
  • Generative Use (Restricted): We do not use your specific instructional materials to generate, synthesize, or create competing lesson plans for other users.

De-identification

Prior to being used for any internal model training or improvement, all user-uploaded materials undergo an automated de-identification process designed to strip direct identifiers (such as teacher names, specific school names, or contact information) from the text to the extent feasible.
